STRATEGY BUILDER WITH BACKTESTING

Now develop your own strategies using our Strategy Builder TradingView Indicator. This indicator has the capability to backtest any candlestick pattern or indicator based strategies and optimize it as per your settings.

This is the advanced version of our FREE “Candlestick Pattern Condition Builder”. For details on how our condition builder works, check out our basic version (without backtesting ability) – Candlestick Pattern Builder

However, in this advanced version we have introduced popular indicators and also a powerful backtesting feature that allows traders to build their own strategies as per their trading style.

About the indicator

The Strategy Builder includes below mentioned 13 technical indicators along with the ability to define custom candlestick patterns. Without anymore guesses, you can fully change, configure parameters and backtest hundreds of combinations with indicators and candlestick patters to find the best strategy for yourself. Here are the technical indicators you can tweak in the input section.

  • Moving Averages (EMA, SMA, WMA, SMMA, VWMA): Select moving average type and length.
  • Super Trend: Indicator for trend-following strategies.
  • ATR Trailing Stop-Loss: Sets dynamic stop-loss levels based on volatility.
  • Relative Strength Index (RSI): Oscillator used as a trend filter with adjustable levels.
  • Average Directional Index (ADX): Measures trend strength, with DI+ and DI- components.
  • MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence): Consists of fast and slow EMAs, and a signal line to gauge momentum.
  • VWAP (Volume-Weighted Average Price): Used to confirm price levels relative to volume-weighted trends.
  • ATR (Average True Range): For trailing stop-losses based on market volatility.
  • CCI (Commodity Channel Index): Oscillator that measures deviation from the average.

Key Parameters in Properties Section (FOR BACKTESTING):

  • Initial Capital: Define the starting capital for backtesting. This value influences position sizing and overall performance evaluation.
  • Base Currency: Choose the currency in which profits and losses will be calculated. It ensures accurate performance metrics, especially when trading across multiple markets.
  • Order Size: This setting determines the size of each trade executed during backtesting, expressed either as a percentage of available capital or a fixed lot size. Flexible options allow you to tailor the backtest to your trading style.
  • Commission: Input the cost per trade in the form of a percentage or fixed amount. Accurately accounting for commissions is vital in assessing real-world strategy performance, as frequent trading can erode profits without consideration of fees.
  • Slippage: This parameter accounts for the difference between expected and actual trade prices, simulating real market conditions. Slippage can affect backtested results, especially in volatile markets or with larger order sizes.

By configuring these parameters, you can effectively simulate how your favorite technical indicators and candlestick patterns would perform in real trading conditions, making adjustments where necessary to enhance profitability and manage risk.
